The Beam Raising Ceremony of the New CoE Building Construction

The Beam Raising Ceremony of the New CoE Building Construction was held on Mar. 5th, 2020 co-hosted by NTU President, Prof. Chung-Ming KUAN (管中閔) , Chairman Hsu-Shun TSUNG (宗緒順) of  TSUNG Cho-Chang Education Foundation (財團法人宗倬章先生教育基金會), and Dean Wen-Chang CHEN (陳文章) of College of Engineering. Other attendees including CEO Hsu-Li TSUNG (宗緒麗) of TSUNG Cho-Chang Education Foundation, NTU Vice President for General Affairs, Prof. Louis GE (葛宇甯), former NTU President, Prof. Si-Chen LEE (李嗣涔), former Dean of CoE, Prof. Yeong-Bin YANG (楊永斌), former Dean of CoE, Prof. Jia-Yush YEN (顏家鈺), and other professors and students came to the ceremony to wish for a successful construction project. 

During the speech, President Kuan expressed the gratitude to former Chairman Cheng-Chih TSUNG (宗成志) of  TSUNG Cho-Chang Education Foundation for giving back to his alma mater. His enthusiasm for public welfare and education, giving back to the society, and long-term donation and support to the college of engineering is a great model to the students of NTU CoE.

Dean Chen expressed special thanks to the former Chairman Cheng-Chih TSUNG, Chairman Hsu-Shun TSUNG, and CEO Hsu-Li TSUNG for their continuous contribution and the great funding up to NTD 400 million from TSUNG Cho-Chang Education Foundation to the college of engineering for years, giving this old college a new life. To commence their contribution, the south building of the new CoE will be named as the Cho-Chang Building (倬章館), and the international lecture of the building will be named as Cheng-Chih Hall (成志廳).

As Chairman Hsu-Shun TSUNG gave the speech, he mentioned about his father’s deep feeling for NTU, and how he often came back to the alma mater and cherished the memories during his studies. Chairman Tsung hopes the construction project to be proceeded as schedule successfully to fulfills his father’s wish and the contribution to NTU and the college of engineering.

The new College of Engineering Building will have 7 floors on the ground and one basement floor with the construction area around 22,250 meter square, connecting with the old CoE building. The construction progress is within the expectation, and will be completed in September 2020, providing professors and students a greater teaching and learning environment.
