Distinguished Professor Ping-Hei Chen Awarded 2020 TECO Award
Distinguished Professor Ping-Hei Chen (陳炳煇) of Mechanical Engineering is awarded 2020 TECO Award (Machinery/Energy/Environment sector). The award ceremony was held on Nov. 21st,2020 to present the awards to the 8 recipients including 7 scientists in four major science and technology fields. Professor Chen has been investigating thermal and fluid phenomena for years, integrating both material and thermal knowledge applicable to the thermal management of ICT products, and applying natural convection mechanics to a rapid polymerase chain reaction (PCR) platform for COVID-19 virus detection. Professor Chen's academic achievement has made significant contribution to both thermal management and biomedical device industry. (Interview with Award-Winning Professor Ping-Hei Chen)
TECO Award was founded in 1993 in order to arouse awareness among the public of the importance of scientific and technological innovation for the social and national development, via encouragement for those with special contribution to Taiwan scientific and technological development. The "humanities" sector was added in 1998 to promote the blended development of science/technologies and humanities and the formation of a society with progress in both aspects.
