The 3rd Taiwan-Vietnam Joint Symposium on Catalysis

The third Taiwan-Vietnam Joint Symposium on Catalysis was successfully held on July 7 and 8, 2019 in Shin-Yi Lecture Hall, Tseng Jiang Building.  The symposium was organized and hosted by Chairman Jeffrey Chi-Sheng Wu (吳紀聖) and Professor Wen-Yueh Yu (游文岳) of Department of Chemical Engineering.  Twenty-one delegates from both sides were invited to give oral presentations.  The academic interaction and culture interaction were successful.

The bilateral symposium between Taiwan and Vietnam is initiated under the proposal of Professor Min-Hon Rei (雷敏宏), the former president of the Taiwan Catalysis Society.  The first and the second Taiwan-Vietnam Joint Symposium on Catalysis were held in Taipei, Taiwan on June, 2015 and Quy Nhon, Vietnam on August, 2017, respectively.  The academic exchanges were very successfully.

The delegates of Vietnam of this bilateral symposium were led by Professor Luu Cam Loc (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology), the vice chairman of Vietnam Association of Catalysis and Adsorption.  They all were from top universities and company, such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Hanoi University of Science - Vietnam National University Hanoi, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Quy Nhon University, and Vietnam Petroleum Institute.  The delegates of Taiwan were led by Academician Chung-Yuan Mou (牟中原院士), the president of Taiwan Catalysis Society and Distinguished Professor of Department of Chemistry of our university. They all were also from different top universities in Taiwan.  Based on friendship built in the symposiums and in the visiting, further catalysis research collaboration and exchange program are expected and will be carried out in the future.
