The 3rd Japan-Taiwan International Engineering Forum

National Taiwan University System (NTUS) (National Taiwan University、National Taiwan University of Science and Technology、National Taiwan Normal University) and 6 University Human Assets Promotion Program for Innovative Education and Research (6U-HAPPIER- Hokkaido University、Tohoku University、Tokyo Institute of Technology、Nagoya University、Osaka University、Kyushu University) co-organized The 3rd Japan-Taiwan International Engineering Forum at Tokyo Institute of Technology from Feb. 27th to Mar. 1st, 2019. Prof. Duu-Jong Lee (李篤中), CEO, National Taiwan University System was the primary planner for this academic activity and included around 40 participants of NTUS to join this forum. Besides Ph.D. student sessions from Japan and Taiwan and lab tours, many well-know companies were also invited to join the forum, having academic interaction about the development and trend of engineering application.

NTU team was led by Associate Dean Chung-Che Chou (周中哲), along with Prof. Kuo-Lun Tung, Department of Chemical Engineering (童國倫), Prof. Kung-Yen Lee, Department of Engineering Science and Ocean Engineering (李坤彥), Prof. Chien-Fu Chen (陳建甫) and Postdoctoral researcher Jia-Hui LIN (林佳慧), Graduate Institute of Applied Mechanics, Ph. D. students Ting-Hai FAN (范廷海), Department of Civil Engineering, Sung TSANG (臧淞), Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Hong-Wei YANG (楊弘偉), Department of Material Science and Engineering.

Scholars from Taiwan and Japan had discussion and interaction on the core topic: “Innovative International Collaborative Research with Industries Driven By Young Researchers in Japan and Taiwan”, and paid a visit to some research institutions, such as National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) 及Fujikin. Totally around 130 participants joined this forum including over 20 well-known corporations, which shows how industries highly pay attention to the development of scientific research results. Through the Japan-Taiwan International Engineering Forum, a cooperation platform is created for yang and excellent scholars from both sides to have interactions and to keep doing research to enhance the engineering development energy and industrial competitiveness.
