The groundbreaking ceremony for the additional construction of National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) was held on October 23rd, 2019 by NTU President Chung-Ming Kuan (管中閔). Attendees including the members of NCREE, NTU administrative units, colleges & departments, and distinguished guests from Ruentex Group (潤泰集團) joined the ceremony to pray for a successful construction project.

Thanks to the generous donation from Chairman Samuel (Yen-Liang) Yin (尹衍樑) of Ruentex Group to the Department of Civil Engineering, this additional construction aims to add 7-story steel structure on the current 6-story reinforced concrete structure of NCREE building and to complete the whole project in June, 2020. Once the construction is finished, it will provide a wider space for the NTU Civil Engineering in innovative technology research & development and industry-academia cooperation. It will also facilitate the AI research cooperation between Civil Engineering and NCREE and break through the space bottleneck of sustainable development quickly, providing great help on the long-term development of the institutions.
