With resources from campus and society, working together to cultivate altruistic future talents, and give back to Taiwan society

Y. L. LIN HUNG TAI Education and Culture Charity Trust(公益信託林堉璘宏泰教育文化公益基金) and Y. L. LIN HUNG TAI Education Foundation (財團法人林堉璘宏泰教育基金會)signed the “Lin's Scholarship-National Taiwan University” 5-year project with four colleges of National Taiwan University (College of Engineering, College of Law, College of Science, and College of Management) on May 10th, 2019. Starting from this year (2019), the scholarship will provide NTD 450 million in the 5 years to invest around 450 outstanding exchange/visit students to go abroad to pursue master/doctoral degrees or internship scholarship. The application for the first year has begun in May 2019.

With the mission of “cultivating talents who are internationally competitive and eager to give back to the society for Taiwan”, Y. L. LIN HUNG TAI Education and Culture Charity Trust cares much about the challenges Taiwan society is facing or will face in the near future: the aging society, the regional position of Taiwan, industry innovation & transformation, migration/ immigration, building a knowledgeable society, and media literacy.

Dean Wen-Chang Chen (陳文章), College of Engineering, Dean Wang-Ruu Tseng (曾宛如), College of Law, Dean Shiuh-Tzung Liu (劉緒宗), College of Science, and Dean Ruey-Shan Guo (郭瑞祥), College of Management feel that in order to correspond to the rapid movement of global talents in this arising era of knowledge-based economy, it is necessary to cultivate and keep talents in Taiwan, and as a result, work hard to search for resources for the students. Y. L. LIN HUNG TAI Education and Culture Charity Trust is deeply touched, therefore strongly supports and makes this project happen with the consensus of breeding future talents for Taiwan.

This scholarship project is offered to the current students or students who graduate within 5 years from College of Engineering, College of Law, College of Science, and College of Management, National Taiwan University. The qualified applicants need to be altruistic and enthusiastic about the solution to the challenges that Taiwan is facing and be able to propose the solution project and willing to practice by themselves. The application categories include exchange/ visit students, master/ doctoral degrees, and overseas internship. For qualified exchange/ visit students, every applicant will be provided up to NTD 800,000 every year, and up to NTD 3 million for international students.

Y. L. LIN HUNG TAI Education and Culture Charity Trust and the four colleges of NTU hope to use this project as a start point to encourage more altruistic students to devote themselves to the future development of Taiwan and to take actions. It is planned to provide investment funds in the form of “Fund of entrepreneurship/ social service” to the outstanding scholarship-winning students who come back to Taiwan and give back to the society to create a better future.
