The College of Engineering & The College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Colleges), National Taiwan University (NTU), have signed an academic agreement for an Undergraduate and Graduate Program with The College of Engineering and Computing (College) at the University of South C
arolina (South Carolina) on Oct 27. The Signing Ceremony hosted by Prof. Tai-Jen Chen, the Academic Vice President, NTU; Prof. Huan-Jang Keh, Dean of College of Engineering; and Prof. Soo-Chang Pei, Dean of EECS. Dr. Becker, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and Dr. Amiridis, Dean of College of Engineering and Computing represented USC. The specific content of the agreement is the 3+2 plan which includes both the NTU Baccalaureate (BS) and the USC Master of Science (MS) degrees. After NTU undergraduate students finish courses of the first three years and pass the review process by USC, they will be eligible to enroll as conditional graduate students. For the two semesters of study in the first year of the program, undergraduate academic credit earned at South Carolina will be transferred to NTU for completion of the undergraduate degree. Upon conferment of their undergraduate degree by NTU, students meeting eligibility requirements for full degree seeking admission to the Graduate School and their specific Master¡¦s Program in Engineering may remain at South Carolina to complete their Master¡¦s degree. This 3+2 plan for academic agreement is the innovative model in NTU as well as USC. The agreement aims to promote exchange of skills and education through academic and scientific cooperation and students exchange program between two sides in the next three years.
