Call for Applications! 2025 Rising Stars Women in Engineering Workshop (RSE)

Selection: Applications will be reviewed by the College of Engineering. Results will be announced in early October 2025.

 

1. Background

The Rising Stars Women in Engineering Workshop (RSE) is designed for young female scholars aspiring to an academic career in engineering. It aims to enhance the visibility, impact, and future development of women in engineering across Asia, while fostering cross-institutional and international support networks.

Since 2018, RSE has been an extension of the Asian Deans’ Forum (ADF) and has been hosted annually on a rotational basis by seven leading engineering schools. This year, RSE will be jointly hosted by the College of Engineering and the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, National Taiwan University, with the following co-host institutions:

‧ The University of Tokyo
‧ Seoul National University
‧ Tsinghua University (Beijing)
‧ The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
‧ National University of Singapore
‧ University of New South Wales

 

2. Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

‧ Female (including cisgender and transgender women)
‧ Proficient in English
‧ Meet at least one of the following:

  (1) Current Ph.D. candidate or recent Ph.D. graduate in an engineering-related field at NTU

  (2) Postdoctoral researcher or young scholar holding a Ph.D. in engineering from NTU

  (3) Early-career engineer with a Ph.D. in engineering from NTU, currently in industry but interested in pursuing an academic career

※ Previous participants of RSE are not eligible to re-apply.

‧ Personal photo (minimum 800×800 px, 500KB–2MB, .jpg)
‧ Research abstract (200–300 words, .pdf)
‧ Self-introduction video link (3–5 minutes; link must be publicly accessible)

 

4. Information for Selected Participants

‧ Selected participants will be invited to present an A1 poster, deliver a 90-second elevator pitch, and participate in all sessions of the Workshop.

‧ Full attendance at all activities is mandatory.

  • November 16, 2025: Welcome Dinner
  • November 17–18, 2025: Two-day Workshop
  • November 17, 2025: Dinner

‧ The Workshop will provide free access to all sessions, the Welcome Dinner (Nov. 16), the Dinner (Nov. 17), and lunches (Nov. 17–18). Participants are, however, responsible for their own daily transportation to and from the NTU College of Engineering.

‧ Upon confirming acceptance, selected participants must agree to comply with the Terms and Conditions set forth by the Executive Committee.
