Distinguished Professors Wen-Yuh JYWE and Allan TUNG Rewarded 2021 TECO Award

Distinguished Prof. Wen-Yuh JYWE (覺文郁) of Mechanical Engineering and Distinguished Prof. Kuo-Lun (Allan) TUNG (童國倫) of Chemical Engineering are rewarded 2021 TECO Award in Machinery/ Energy/ Environment sector and Chemical Engineering/ Material Technology sector respectively. The award ceremony was held on Nov. 20th,2021 with the participation of Chairman Jui-Sung KUO (郭瑞嵩) from TECO Technology Foundation (東元科技文教基金會) to present the awards to the 7 recipients including 6 scientists in four major science and technology fields.

Prof. Wen-Yuh JYWE of Mechanical Engineering deeply cultivates in the research of machine tools and precision measurement, integrating and leading a cross-field team with excellent R&D results and technical talents cultivation. He promotes the development of industrial transformation and upgrading, and makes outstanding contributions to the development of domestic machinery and manufacturing industry.

Prof. Allan TUNG of Chemical Engineering has devoted to the research and development of high-efficiency chemical separation technology for a long time, and obtained the world's first destructive innovative inorganic membrane with renowned academic reputation internationally. He also successfully commercialized the research results by establishing a start-up company, achieving significant industrial performance, and making outstanding contributions to water resources and environmental sustainability.

TECO Award was founded in 1993 in order to arouse awareness among the public of the importance of scientific and technological innovation for the social and national development, via encouragement for those with special contribution to Taiwan scientific and technological development. The "humanities" sector was added in 1998 to promote the blended development of science/technologies and humanities and the formation of a society with progress in both aspects. So far, there have been 162 recipients of this award, and among these, totally 16 recipients are from College of Engineering, NTU:
