2023 Chair Award & the Academic Award Ceremony of College of Engineering, NTU

To improve the quality standards in engineering fields, the College of Engineering (CoE) has co-established the TSUNG Cho-Chang Chair, the Qinglang·Chanda Chemical Chair, and the Pin-Yen Chair Award respectively with TSUNG Cho-Chang Education Foundation, Chanda Chemical Corporation, and AVATACK CO., LTD. The CoE also established the Academic Award to encourage full-time faculty members to improve their academic achievements. The award ceremony for the aforementioned awards was held on Nov. 29th, 2023 at the 203 Lecture Hall, Building of College of Engineering, NTU.
The awarded professors this year include Prof. Yao-Joe Joseph YANG (楊燿州) of Mechanical Engineering (TSUNG Cho-Chang Chair), Prof. An-Bang WANG (王安邦) of Institute of Applied Mechanics (TSUNG Cho-Chang Chair), Prof. Kevin Chia-Wen WU (吳嘉文) of Chemical Engineering (Qinglang·Chanda Chemical Chair), and Prof. Kuo-Lun TUNG (童國倫) of Chemical Engineering (Pin-Yen Chair). Each award recipient is rewarded with NT$600,000 and a trophy. The Academic Award is presented to 10 professors, including Prof. Shang-Shu SHIH (施上粟) of Civil Engineering (Symtek Outstanding Scholar), Prof. Chia-Ming CHANG (張家銘) of Civil Engineering, Prof. Yu-Hsi HUANG (黃育熙) of Mechanical Engineering (GPM Outstanding Scholar), Prof. Steven S.-S. WANG (王勝仕) of Chemical Engineering (Symtek Outstanding Scholar), Prof. Jeffrey D. Ward (吳哲夫) of Chemical Engineering (C SUN Outstanding Scholar), Prof. Jia-Han LI (李佳翰) of Engineering Science and Ocean Engineering, Prof. Yi-Chia CHOU (周苡嘉) of Materials Science and Engineering, Prof. Zong-Hong LIN (林宗宏) of Biomedical Engineering (GMM Outstanding Scholar), Prof. Chang-Ping YU (于昌平) of Graduate Institute of Environmental Engineering (C SUN Outstanding Scholar), and Prof. Francis Chia-Hui LIN (林家暉) of Graduate Institute of Building and Planning. Each recipient is rewarded with a prize of NT$150,000-300,000 and a trophy.
During the ceremony, many distinguished guests were invited to present the rewards to the recipients, including Chair Hsu-Shun TSUNG (宗緒順) of the TSUNG Cho-Chang Education Foundation, Chair Ho-Ching HUANG (黃河清) of Chanda Chemical Corporation, Director Hwei-Yu YANG (楊慧瑜) of Four Pillars Enterprise Co., Ltd., C SUN General Manager Frank LIANG (梁又文), GPM Deputy President H.M. LEE (李洪明), GMM General Manager Dun-Zhi SHI (石敦智), Professor Emeritus Dr. Wen-Hsiung WANG (王文雄) of Materials Science and Engineering, and Director Huei-Jeng LIN (林輝政) of Chun Yu Works Co., Ltd.. The sponsor of the Academic award: Symtek Automation Asia Co., Ltd. wasn’t able to attend the ceremony; Therefore, CoE Dean Mao-Hsiung Chiang (江茂雄) presented the awards to the recipients on their behalf and acknowledged all award-winning faculty members for their outstanding performance in academic research and industry-academia collaboration.
